Should Tom change how he checks out women?
I was recently out with a mixed group of friends and a few of the women in the group caught the guys checking out cute girls nearby. We turned our heads to check them out and momentarily broke our conversation. No one is dating anyone else in this group but this led to a detailed discussion of why guys check out chicks. The men in the group decided this was a genetic trait and that men should be excused from recrimination since it was genetic and not totally under conscious control (as long as the checking out was done tasteful to the surroundings). I think guys should be excused for checking out chicks since it may be a genetic trait passed down from hunter-gatherer roots over thousands of years.
The women disagreed.
This question has haunted my friends for weeks and caused great consternation. An answer voted on by the public would heal many deep divisions.

Checking out chicks is totally genetic. It’s a basic law of attraction.
If you’re single:
I notice you – You notice me noticing you – I approach you with some inappropriate comment to break the ice – You throw a drink in my face – Repeat for the rest of your single life.
If you’re not single:
I notice you – My girlfriend notices me noticing you – I defend myself with the laws of attraction scientific theory – She throws a drink in my face – Repeat for the rest of your relationship.

Wow, that’s a whole lot of wasted alcohol. I figure as a Daily you would learn to check out women on the sly, saves you grief and alcohol. It’s all win-win.
