Should Flo give her ex a chance to be friends again?

Curtis and Flo were friends before they started dating several years back. They, and a few other friends in common, had all just moved to Chicago. A few months into dating back then, Curtis broke things off saying that he wanted only to be friends. Flo was bummed and had real feelings for the guy but was able to remain friends, good friends with him.

Last fall Curtis gradually started making advances on Flo again. When Flo finally had a "where is this going?" talk, Curtis suggested that they just be friends again because he's bad at relationships and knew how things were going to go. However, this time they talked things out and continued to date. Several months into that relationship, Flo increasingly started to feel like she was being taken for granted despite her growing feelings for Curtis. After having second "where is this going?" talk, Curtis finally grew a pair and broke things off for good. Of course, with considerable damage done to the friendship but with little to no acknowledgment of such.

After a month or two of no communication, Flo recently received this email:

I know you're still angry with me as I have done a great deal of damage to your trust. Please give me a chance to try to repair some aspect of our friendship. I know this will not be a quick or easy process but I am eager to start. Let me know if and how we can begin to be friends again.

Update: Flo took a break from her ex, then told him off, and they eventually became friends again
